ProsthetiKa partners with PAHO in Guyana
The Pan American Health Organization, a division of the World Health Organization, has been committed to helping improve rehabilitation services and particularly prosthetic and orthotic services in Guyana. ProsthetiKa contracted to PAHO to provide training to local prosthetists, orthotists, and physiotherapists in Guyana and completed a training project with PAHO in Guyana in August, 2018. 25 amputees were fit with various types of prosthetic legs or arms and each amputee was trained in the proper use of the prosthesis. All fitting and fabrication of the devices were done cooperatively by Guyanese workers working side by side with ProsthetiKa experts. The next phase of the project is in the planning stages now.
