Jose Carlos Guamann is a Biomechanical Engineer with a particular interest in prosthetics. However, there are no formal prosthetic educational programs in Bolivia. With the help of a sister city program between Cochabamba and Raleigh North Carolina, Carlos traveled to the US in the 1980’s to study prosthetics at Duke University. As a Bolivian prosthetist, he has worked both in private practice and with non-profit centers to improve the lives of the disabled.

Carlos has been working hand in hand with ProsthetiKa organizing workshops, evaluating difficult and challenging cases, procuring materials and lending his facilities, tools, and equipment to the program. He is a key to the success of ProsthetiKa’s Bolivian projects.
